Buddha, on Individually unique religion for every one…

Just as two people of the same political party in the United States still have different political views, two people of the same religion have different religious views (unless they believe in everything of that specific religion). I like a lot of the aspects of Buddhism, but one of the things I do not believe in is that life is full of suffering. Life is definitely an opportunity for me, and the only purpose for it is to live it the way you want to.

Celeste River, Costa Rica.
This river notable for its distinctive turquoise coloration, a phenomenon caused by a chemical reaction between sulfur from the nearby Tenorio Volcano and calcium carbonate. It empties into quite a few waterfalls, such as this one, and several geysers surround it.

Dallol Volcano.
What appears to look like the dangerous and active surface of Jupiter’s moon, Io, is actually a real place on Earth (northeast of Ethiopia, specifically). It was formed by the intrusion of basaltic magma in Miocene salt deposits and subsequent hydrothermal activity. These craters are the lowest known subaerial volcanic vents in the world, at over 45 m (150 ft) below sea level. Numerous geysers spew brine and acidic liquid having pH values less than 1.

Buddha, A Shadow of Joy  :   via Quotescapr…

When I reason with myself and successfully eliminate angry or confused thoughts in my head, the other thoughts that make up my mind become clear, lean, and precise. It’s when I feel happy and, somehow, when everything else around me is great.

The Alien-like Snowplant.
Snow plant is a red, fleshy, glandular-hairy saprophyte lacking chlorophyll with simple stems either solitary or in clusters growing to 20” tall from a thick, brittle root. The plant is unable to synthesize and create nutrients for itself, so it takes nutrients from a nearby tree and any fungi connected to the given tree’s root network. In return for the nutrients, the snowplant provides mineral based nutrients, water, and protection from pathogens to the plant.
Click here for a closer look of the plant.

“Opposing Elements” (Kilauea, Hawaii).
Kīlauea is one of the most active volcanoes on the planet and a valuable resource for volcanologists who are able to study it up close due to its exclusively non-violent effusive activity. Despite its relative safeness, it has destructed a few houses in the Kalapana area and emits poisonous gases. Since 2008, rising emissions of sulphur dioxide from the Halemaʻumaʻu crater at Kīlauea’s summit have led to increased levels of volcanic smog and air quality concerns.

“The Living Stars of Caves” (Glow Worms).
The glow worms are actually the larvae of a certain species of flies. They trick other small insects into thinking their bodies and silk are the stars of a dark night. Unlucky prey stick to the silk and become a meal for the worms. As the worms become full from their meal, their glowing bodies grow dim so small insects won’t be deceived until the larvae become hungry again.

This is why I like Buddhism. A lot of people who are Christians say to put your burdens on God, or something like “It’s in God’s hands now.” If you let someone else handle your problems (someone you only believe exists), how will you truly be fulfilled? ;)

The Passiflora Species (Passion Flowers).
Passion flowers can be found world-wide, excluding only a few countries. They are known for secreting different kinds of viscous fluids throughout the plant (most of which act as defense mechanisms). One fluid it secretes is a sweet and nutrient-rich type that attracts insects that eat any other insect that the flower sees as pests. The other fluid it secretes exists on it’s hair, which captures and digests pests to provide nutrients for itself. Perhaps what makes the flower most famous is it’s delicious fruits and it’s roots and leaves that have medicinal purposes.
